What this site is
chinatour.app publishes practical guides for people planning a trip to China. Not inspiration, not photo galleries — the operational side. How to get a visa. What a tour should cost. What you need to arrange before you fly, and what you can leave until you land.
We focus on the questions that have a wrong answer. Whether a hotel booking is required for your visa application has a correct answer. Whether a $2,500 tour is good value has a correct answer. Those are the questions worth writing about.
How we research and verify
- Official sources first. For anything to do with visas and entry, we work from the Chinese consular affairs portal, the COVA application system, and the CVASC centre network. If a page conflicts with what your local centre says, your local centre is right.
- Named sources for prices. When we quote what a tour costs, we name the operator and the published rate, so you can check it yourself rather than take our word for it.
- Every guide is dated. Visa fees, entry rules and processing times change. Each page carries a "last updated" date, and we re-check the time-sensitive ones on a quarterly cycle.
- When we cannot verify something, we say so. We would rather write "confirm this with your local centre" than publish a number we cannot stand behind.
How we make money
Some links on this site are affiliate links. If you book a hotel or buy an eSIM through one of them, we may earn a commission. It costs you nothing extra, and it does not change what we recommend — the recommendation is written first, and the link is added to it afterwards.
We do not sell placements in our guides, and no operator or service has paid to be mentioned. Where we name tour companies, it is because their published prices were useful for comparison, not because of any arrangement with them.
What we are not
- Not a visa service. We do not submit applications on your behalf and we cannot speed yours up. We explain the process; you still have to do it.
- Not affiliated with any government, embassy or consulate. We are an independent publisher.
- Not legal or immigration advice. Our guides are general information. Visa decisions rest entirely with the Chinese consular authorities.
Corrections
If something here is out of date or wrong, we want to know. Visa rules change faster than most sites update, and a reader pointing out an error is the fastest way we find out. Get in touch.
